This was part of a conversation that happened a couple weeks ago. It is such an important concept that I thought it deserved to be shown here…even though Jem seemed to understand soon after I drafted this.
True Friends and Forever

The forever part is what I’m after. I know – a stiff order.
Another friend said recently that she’d been having similar problems with a blossoming friendship. I thought she hit the nail square on the head when she said:
Those trust issues are no fun. I have gone through some of that with [so-and-so]. I know he doesn’t understand it, but I think part of my issue is I really expect relationships to last a lifetime, not just my marriage.
For so many, this is a foreign idea. So many, even ‘Christians’, don’t expect marriage to last a life time. Why would any other relationship? So many take relationships, only as they serve them.
