When all the goat does had their kids at Grandpa Barry’s last time, Billy got to claim one. He named her Sunny. She is a Nubian. I was skeptical at first…it seemed Dad was spoiling him by letting him keep a baby goat on a whim, just because she happened to be the first one he [...]

“Here it is splendid in summer!” she said… …swans were swimming and peering into the old shady avenues. The corn waved in the field like a yellow sea. Red and yellow flowers grew in the ditches, wild hops and convolvuli in full bloom in the hedges. In the evening the moon rose, large and round, [...]

When my sister was down, I compelled her to take some pictures of my daughter, Tyger. I wanted somewhat casual portraits, so dressed her up in a new dress, and then we took her outside. She was sullen, then shy, then cheeky, and everything in between. Now she likes cameras.

My apologies, I had my camera on an awkward setting without realizing it. “Take 2″ just doesn’t happen with Billy; you have to catch him unawares, or all you get is goofy faces. As you see, Billy went fishing. He caught several nice trout, and then – here’s the big part – proceeded, under Will’s [...]
When a Decorative Cattail Gets Worn Out

Here is what happens when large cattails expire. This one was several years old, and finally decided to let go, in despite of coatings of hair spray. By the time I removed it, it had become a fluffy, beautiful curtain clear down to the shelf…amazing, I’ve never seen the like before or since.
